Beginnings – The Gwynallens

The picture at the top of the website is of Craggy Peak in the Klamath-Siskiyou mountains.  We used it because in the Valley of the Rogue River in the Klamath-Siskiyou region is where our household, our Gwynallen family, came into being.

Our family story is the intersection of a Jewish family, on Maraji’s side, and a mostly Celtic family on my side, the joining of which introduced something brand new into both family trees; two rivers converging born in vastly different headwaters and pouring across the centuries with hundreds of family members across at least nine countries and at least as many languages – births, marriages, more births, deaths, joys and sorrows, all the rich loam of life.

What a wonder to think that all those generations of birthing and birthing and living and living and wandering and wandering led to one girl swinging on a gate one May day in Oregon.
